One Guide to Rule Them All: Research Station

This guide was created as a way for all students at Ferrum College to get basic 'help' with research, tutorials and quick tip suggestions.

Where Do I Even Begin?

  • "How do I come up with a strategy for researching my topic?" - Park Point University's How to Write a Research Paper website lays out a four-step process for writing your research paper. QR code below.

  • "Where can I find the best places to search for information for my topic?" - The Internet Public Library 2 (IPL1) can help with this problem. They have a special page to help teens who don't always have access to college libraries. QR code below.

Other Helpful Research Websites

  • ProCon.org - a great source for evaluating both sides of major social topics. The website is an independent, non-profit website that is verified by attorneys and doctors, and provides information with hyperlinks to the scholarly articles that are quoted.
  • The Seven Steps of the Research Process - a Cornell website the breaks down all of the different types of library sources and how to use them most effectively.
  • Writing Research Papers - from Rice University, this page made for introductory Biosciences lab courses provides a lot of research and strategy information, including a basic format for organizing your paper.
