About the Library

Stanley Library consists of three floors designed to give our students a variety of learning spaces.  The 21st Century Learning Center is the first floor of the Library and houses our Learning Engagement and Practice (LEaP) Studio for library instruction, our Digital Media Center, our Digital Audio Lab, and our “green screen” room.  The second floor houses the first half of our print collection along with our Learning Commons study area.  The lower level of the Library completes our print collection and functions as our quiet study area.

Mission Statement

Stanley Library strives to create a welcoming and supporting learning environment for the dissemination of knowledge, and offering a place where ideas can interact among students, teachers, librarians, and the community. Using its robust collections and innovative programming combined with the values of inclusion, equity, and diversity, Stanley Library helps its patrons become proficient learners who are adept at accessing information in the 21 century and who will thrive in a changing global environment. Stanley Library will enrich lives and communities through providing, supporting, and enhancing universal access to literacy, lifelong learning, information, and knowledge.

Vision Statement

Stanley Library is the intellectual nerve center of Ferrum College. It offers books, journals, newspapers, DVDs, AV equipment, research workshops, study areas, and community engagement to our patrons. It provides every member of the Ferrum Community, campus and town, access to a vast array of ideas and information. It empowers patrons to be curious, passionate, and respectful active learners who explore, connect, evaluate, and create.
