Chapel Ferrum Training School
Those familiar with campus now note that this building is no longer the Chapel. Schoolfield Hall, originally Schoolfield Memorial Chapel and named for a generous donor, Mr. R.A. Schoolfield, was built in 1924. During the 1930s it was very much operating as the Chapel for the Junior College. Now it functions as a performing arts center, the facility includes the Sale Auditorium, a separate flexible theater, and the College Theatre Arts department.
Student Summer Workers
This picture is from 1923, but the tradition that Dr. Beckham started which allowed students to stay on campus during the summer as wait staff for summer vacationers continued on throughout the 1930s. The money the vacationers spent during their stay at the college brought extra money into the school when classes were not in session.
