Encouraging sustainability beyond the tourist experience: ecotourism, interpretation and values
The relationship between tourism and sustainability is complex, with considerable attention paid to ecotourism’s potential to positively contribute to sustainability. One way forward could be through using tourist experiences, especially those focusing on interpretation, to activate or change sustainability relevant values, beliefs, attitudes and actions both at places visited and elsewhere.

La iniciativa de la Guía de buenas prácticas de turismo sostenible para comunidades y su Guía del líder capacitador tiene como objetivo unir las áreas de fortaleza de cada organización y generar herramientas y metodologías aplicables al trabajo en turismo comunitario. El turismo comunitario se consolida cada vez más como un elemento importante en las cadenas de valor turísticas de América Latina. A través del trabajo desarrollado y de la experiencia acumulada, muchas iniciativas de turismo comunitario se han consolidado y se han convertido en referentes en sus respectivos destinos. Sin embargo, en muchos casos aún persiste el reto de implementar buenas prácticas de turismo sostenible. Más aún, es válido afirmar que las iniciativas de turismo comunitario, así como las organizaciones que las apoyan, se beneficiarían enormemente al involucrar las buenas prácticas desde la misma fase de planificación y diseño de las iniciativas.
Heritage Interpretation and Sustainable Development: A Systematic Literature Review
Heritage interpretation is an educational activity that provides information on natural and cultural heritage to people visiting heritage sites and objects. The article aims to identify different ways of using heritage interpretation as a tool for managing areas of sustainable development. The study consisted of a systematic literature review (knowledge mapping) in the field of heritage interpretation and sustainable development. Using the most important databases of scientific publications in the world (Scopus, Web of Science, Ebsco, Proquest), publications on the interpretation of heritage and sustainable development were searched.
